Offices and dwellings: what building acoustics for sustainable development?

Sustainability has proved to be a major concern since the beginning of this century. Among the 14 targets for sustainable projects as defined in the French standards, one specifically deals with acoustic comfort. Over the years, those standards have been developed to cope with various kinds of buildings. However, due to the lack of discussion between specialists it has sometimes proved rather hard to be applied. Furthermore, a lack of coherence may sometimes appear between sustainable standards by HQE, national standards by Afnor, and national regulations. This paper aims to submit a few questions on those matters.
