Campylobacter jejuni, Campylobacter coli, and cytolethal distending toxin (CDT) genes in common teals (Anas crecca)

Résumé

To evaluate the presence of spp. and related genes, cloacal swabs were collected from 70 common teals () and analyzed by culture methods and polymerase chain reaction. In addition, were examined also for the presence of gene. This is believed to be the first report of spp. in common teal and our results confirm the very common occurrence of (=40) and (=13) in waterfowls. Furthermore, the genes were frequently present in both and isolated. Moreover, seven isolates carried also the gene which is presumably involved in the expression of ganglioside mimics in Guillian-Barré syndrome.
