Microwave remote sensing of snow from a cable car at Chamonix in the French Alps

Résumé

Brightness temperatures were measured on a deep and cold snow cover by the radiometer PORTOS from CNES at five frequencies (5.05-90 GHz), two polarizations, and incidence angles from nadir to 65°. Simultaneously, the snow characteristics were measured in a 5-m pit. The data should serve for emission model validation
