Theoretical description of dissociative 2 scattering in diatomic molecules

Résumé

The paper describes the theoretical formulation of dissociative γ → 2γ ? scattering in fixed-in-space and randomly oriented diatomic molecules in the dipole approximation for excitation and 2γ ? production. Based on perturbation theory the double differential cross section and two-photon angular correlation function of the process is derived. The developed theory is applied to study the angular correlation function of the two Lyman-α photons produced via decay of the doubly-excited Q 2 1 Π u (1) state of the H 2 molecule.
