Comparison of discrete and continuous time implementations of a simple spatially explicit individual-based model
Résumé
We propose to compare discrete and continuous time implementations of a simple birth-death individual-based model (IBM) to analytically derived expression of the mean and variance of the population size. Our results show that the discrete time implementation underestimate the variance, especially when increasing the size of the time step.
