IBIS Models Quality: the Benefits of Frequency-Domain Analysis

Résumé

A novel frequency-domain approach to digital buffer behavioural modeling is discussed. Although the IBIS specification has a very good potential, actual IBIS models underuse it, resulting in “low-quality” models. The aim of the presented method is to help modeling engineers in the production of “good-quality” IBIS models. Indications about the static components of the IBIS model (I-V tables and “C_comp”) are available through a quick analysis of the buffer impedance.
