OBSERVER LA RESILIENCE RURALE REFLEXIONS THEORIQUES ET APPLICATION DANS LES CAMPAGNES CENTRAFRICAINES

Résumé

This paper aims to assess the conceptual and empirical scope of the concept of resilience, for studying high risky rural contexts. Resilience is first defined at the individual level, and evaluated through the analysis of household strategies. However, this evaluation requires the articulation of its objective and subjective natures, and its individual and collective levels. The main characteristics of an observatory of resilience in Central African rural areas are then presented, based on a thorough and regular study of this resilience in thirteen villages representing the rural diversities (in the agroclimatic, socio-economic and politico-military dimensions). The first advantage of such an observatory is to provide, over time, reliable, homogeneous data, with a normative scope.
