The iodine-carbon host interaction is shown to be weaker in multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) than in single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs). Iodine species are only localized at the surface of the external tube for MWNTs, whereas iodine species enter inside SWNTs.
