We study the conditions of creation of the Crédit Mutuel in Alsace-Moselle (close to the contemporaneous conditions of developing economies) as well as its current organization, through the categories of proximity economy and institutionalism. This makes possible to deeper explain both the fundamentals of a local domination and the sustainability of a growing and nationwide expanding group. Concerning local clustering we propose the categories of co-current and contra-current movements; concerning the long term deployment we propose three phases: clustering, universalization and governmentalization.

Les conditions d'émergence du Crédit Mutuel en Alsace-Moselle (1892-1905), comparables à celles d'économies en développement, puis son mode de fonctionnement actuel, sont étudiés via les catégories de l'économie de la proximité et de l'institutionnalisme. On éclaire ainsi, d'une part, les raisons d'une domination locale et d'autre part, une performance qui résiste à la croissance et à l'acquisition d'une dimension nationale. On propose complémentairement les catégories de mouvement solidaires concourants et contra-courants dans leur ancrage local, ainsi que trois phases de développement des organisations de soutien solidaire à l'économie : ancrage, universalisation et gouvernementalisation.
