Pollen of wet evergreen forests of the Western Ghats, India

Résumé

The 162 selected species (mostly trees and some climbers and shrubs) from the wet evergreen forests of the Western Ghats, India, described and illustrated in this book comprise: 2 taxa of Gymnosperms, 157 taxa of Dicotyledons (113 genera and 43 families) and 3 taxa of Monocotyledons. The descriptions include: Genus, species, author(s); Collection data and pollen slide number of the specimen examined; Distribution data [other geographic areas and Western Ghats (Habit of the plant, altitudinal limit, endemic nature, habitat and frequency of distribution)]. Pollen morphology includes short description(s) of aperture(s), sculpture and structure of sexine using the terms in Blackmore et al. (1992) and Bibliographic reference. The 75 plates include 137 scanning electron micrographs of pollen of 61 taxa and 1364 light microscopic photographs of 159 taxa. A pollen morphological Index and an Index of taxa are given.
