The paper emphasizes the interaction between robust control, identification in closed loop and adaptive control. Robust control and algorithms developed for plant model identification in closed loop have led to new designs of adaptive control systems. Their performances are further enhanced by the use of multiple-model adaptive control, based on switching and tuning.
